According to the IUCN Red list, 40% of the assessed population of amphibians is considered threatened with extinction, 30% of sharks and rays and 27% of selected crustaceans. In comparison to other class orders in the kingdom animalia, these statistics are by far the highest (IUCN 2019). The leading contributing factor to the endangerment of these species is loss of environment. With more than 28,000 species being threatened with extinction, and the extent of the common man’s knowledge on existing species, it is increasingly easy for endangered species to go extinct with very few paying notice (IUCN 2019). If the population is able to pass by obvious populace decreases of commonly discussed species (such as pandas or elephants) without much mind, there is no wonder so many species are dying without aid or appreciation to their delicate and beautiful biology. As such, it is my hope to highlight one of said unrepresented species to draw attention to both the beauty of their biology and their environment in attempt to provoke a sense of loss and remorse for both allowing these creatures to be threatened and for contributing to the destruction of their habitat. Similarly, by using methods of model making, I hope to inform the audience about a species with little known about it and have the work be just as much an educative tool as it is a piece speaking to endangerment.
